What: Nuragic complex of Palmavera
How to get there:
Follow the SS 127 from Alghero towards Porto Conte. Ten km from the town (km 32,5), you will see a sign that leads to the site, on the right.
The Nuragic complex of Palmavera dates from the XIII century B.C.
The site consists of two central towers, one considerably earlier than the other. There is a protective enclosing wall, and a second outer wall with four corner watch-towers.
The village was built around this central area, with roughly 50 dwellings. These include the meeting room, in which a small model Nuraghe is preserved. This model probably had a religious purpouse.
