Ogliastra has a population of approx. 60,000 inhabitants, living in 21 towns and villages (or 23 if you include Seui and Ussassai, which are sometimes considered part of the mountain area of Ogliastra, although they belong to Barbagia).

Towns and Villages
The largest town is Tortolì, with more than 9,000 inhabitants, followed by Lanusei, with approx. 6,500 inhabitants, Baunei with just over 4,000 and Barisardo, Villagrande Strisaili and Jerzu (just over 3,500 each).
The villages with less inhabitants are the following: Perdasdefogu, Tertenia, Cardedu, Ulassai (photo on the right: waterfall), Osini, Gairo, Loceri, Ilbono, Elini, Arzana, Talana, Urzulei, Triei, Lotzorai and Girasole.
