10 THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T MISS

  1. Mount Nai
You can visit the Monte Nai Punic ruins, dating back to VI-V centuries B.C.
  2. Parco dei Sette fratelli
The faunistic oasis of Mount Genis stands inside this beautiful mountain-park.
  3. The dawn at Capo Ferrato
It's worth to get up early and admire the natural sight of the rising sun. We are on the eastern coast and it is impossible not see it!
  4. Feraxi and Colostrai ponds
Drive along the main road of S.Priamo and after only 20 minutes you can admire wonderful specimens of flamingos, egrets, herons and stilt-birds.
  5. Prehistoric remains
South-west of the small pond of Costa Rei beach there is an interesting megalithic alignment.
  6.  Acqua Callenti forest
The Acqua Callenti forest stands in the territory of Castiadas, in the heart of the Sette Fratelli Park: it is a wide ilex grove, stretching into the Mount Minniminni area. The area gives hospitality to many protected species, among which the Sardinian deer.
  7. Capo Ferrato headland
Moving northwards along the ss. 125 we meet the headland of Capo Ferrato: it is an evocative spur, made up of dark volcanic rocks, which suddenly emerges from the sea between two long stretches of sandy and low coast.
  8. Typical food
This territory, devoted to agriculture, achieves the best results with the production of dessert grapes, wine grapes and of citrus fruits. Roast kid and game dishes are among culinary specialities. The production of different varieties of honey, including the bitter strawberry-tree one, deserves to be mentioned.
  9. Wine
"Capo Ferrato" is the local wine: it is another geographical name for Cannonau, which comes from the vineyards of the communes of Muravera, San Vito, Villaputzu and Villasimius. It is a red ruby coloured wine, with a sufficiently intense fragrance and a very high alcoholic content.
  10. Visit to nuraghic sites
There are many nuraghic sites in the area, among which those of Figu Niedda, Scalas and Sa Domu e' s'Orcu.
